Alford-Axelson Award for Nonprofit Managerial Excellence

We're absolutely thrilled to announce that Girls on the Run-Chicago has been honored with the Alford-Axelson Award for Nonprofit Managerial Excellence!

This incredible recognition is a testament to the outstanding leadership of Girls on the Run-Chicago Executive Director Jillian Eid, as well as the dedication and hard work of our entire team and governing board.

The selection committee considers to what extent each organization embodies the full range of managerial excellence criteria:

  • Clear, compelling, and well-communicated, mission and vision
  • Coherent organizational strategy that aligns programs and services to mission and goals
  • Strong and effective leadership by staff and board
  • Solid financial management
  • Diversified funding model
  • Well-developed fundraising and external relations program
  • Strong sense of integrity throughout organization’s culture
  • Shared sense of purpose and values within organization and among key external constituents
  • Process in place for evaluating organizational performance

About Girls on the Run-Chicago's work, the Axelson Center said, "Girls on the Run has a long-standing and unwavering commitment to building a world where every girl can know and activate their limitless potential. Girls on the Run is dedicated to inclusion, diversity, equity and access at all levels of their organization."

Huge thanks to the Axleson Center for this honor! We'd also like to congratulate Organized Communities Against Deportation, who received the Excellent Emerging Organization Award.
