Why do you run for Girls on the Run - Chicago?
I'm running for GOTR - Chicago, because I've seen firsthand the incredible impact it has. My daughter participated in the program for three years, and it was amazing to watch her grow in confidence, develop a love for running, and learn valuable life lessons about perseverance, kindness, and self-belief. Girls on the Run does so much more than just teach kids how to run - it empowers them with skills that help them succeed in all aspects of life. I truly believe in this program and everything it stands for, which is why I'm proud to support it!

When did you start running?
I started running seriously in September of 2023 when I trained for a local race, and I haven’t stopped since. What started as a goal for one event quickly turned into a passion, and now I’m pushing myself further than I ever thought possible. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m excited to see where it takes me next!
What’s your favorite song to listen to while running?
I listen to all kinds of music while running. But, whenever a Taylor Swift song comes on, it’s a special moment. It makes me think of my daughter since Taylor Swift is her favorite, and that extra connection gives me a boost to keep going!
What’s the best or funniest moment you’ve had while running?
The moment I look back on and laugh at while running was during an interval workout on a treadmill at a hotel gym. I was in the middle of a fast sprint when the power suddenly cut off. The treadmill stopped instantly, but I definitely did not. I ran right into the front of the treadmill. In the moment, it was concerning, but now I can’t help but laugh because I must have looked pretty foolish!
What would you tell your 10-year-old self about working toward a big goal?
Big goals might seem intimidating at first, but if you take it one step at a time and stay consistent, you’ll surprise yourself with what you can accomplish. Believe in yourself, enjoy the journey, and don’t be afraid to push beyond what you think is possible!
What running advice do you have for the participants in our program?
My biggest advice for Girls on the Run participants is to have fun and believe in yourself! Running isn’t just about being the fastest, it’s about setting goals, pushing yourself, and enjoying the journey. Some days will feel easier than others, and some will be tough, but remember - you can do hard things! Don’t be afraid to challenge yourself, celebrate your progress, and keep running with confidence and a smile!

Any words of advice for your fellow teammates?
My advice would be to trust the process and enjoy the journey. Training for a marathon is tough, but every mile, good or bad, is making you stronger. Stay consistent, listen to your body, and don’t be afraid to lean on others for support. But, most importantly, remember your why. Whether it’s for a personal goal, the incredible mission of Girls on the Run, or both. We can do hard things, and we’ll cross that finish line together!
What is your superpower?
Making people laugh and always finding the positive in every situation. Whether it’s during a tough run, a long workday, or just everyday life, I try to bring humor and optimism to the moment. A good laugh can make anything feel a little easier, and I truly believe that keeping a positive mindset helps us push through challenges and enjoy the journey - even when it gets tough!
