Volunteer with Girls On The Run

Volunteer for Spring 2017!

Without the wonderful work and dedication from our amazing volunteers, Girls on the Run-Chicago would not be able to support the thousands of girls currently participating in our programs. We rely on volunteer help for many different aspects of our organization and offer a variety of opportunities ranging in the commitment of time and talent.

Please take our Volunteer Quiz to find which role works best for you, then click to view the full role description below for a complete list of requirements and benefits of each role.

If you are interested in learning more or have any questions, please email programs@gotrchicago.org.

Site coordinators make sure that all aspects of the program are running smoothly by checking-in, attending practices frequently throughout the season and the end of the season 5k! Site Coordinator Role, Responsibilities, & Benefits

General Volunteer ("Practice Partner")*

General Volunteer/Practice Partners support coaches by assisting with logistics and safety. Their role is to serve as additional adult supervision for the girls during each practice. General Volunteers/Practice Partners are not considered coaches and therefore are not authorized to facilitate the Girls on the Run and/or Heart & Sole curriculum. General Volunteer Role, Responsibilities, & Benefits

Team Adelaide

Team Adelaide members are a vital resource, supporting our sites and the GOTR mission by conducting site visits throughout the season. Team Adelaide members select specific sites and visit each one once during their scheduled practice time. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to meet other volunteers in their community and experience a lesson being facilitated in the field first hand.  Team Adelaide Role, Responsibilities, & Benefits

Note: New and returning site coordinators and coaches can add Team Adelaide to their current role. Our office has found it to be very helpful in gaining valuable feedback and insight that can be used to enhance the program at individual sites.

Race Day

The Girls on the Run 5k takes place in the spring and the fall. As a volunteer, you will join our 8-14 year old program girls, their coaches, running buddies, families, and members of the Chicago running community as we celebrate completing their season. Hundreds of volunteers make 5k day run smoothly each year, and there’s a job for everyone! Whether it’s handing out water at an aid station, helping out at registration, or assisting in the activities tent, your time and talents are always welcome on 5k day!

One-Time Opportunities

Throughout the year, various one-time volunteer opportunities arise. Girls on the Run-Chicago always needs help with things like assembling and disassembling program supplies, promoting the organization at race expos, cheering on runners during the Bank of America Chicago Marathon or helping out in our office during the day or at scheduled evening support events. Check back for opportunities as they are posted or email info@gotrchicago.org to sign up for our monthly e-newsletter.
